In the 2026 summer season, eight new destinations will be added to Tallinn Airport’s route network:
- airBaltic will launch routes to Hamburg, Vienna and Athens
- Wizz Air will open routes to Gdańsk, Warsaw, Rome and Tirana
- Eurowings will begin flights to Düsseldorf
- Finnair will introduce a seasonal route between Kuressaare and Helsinki
“The rapid expansion clearly demonstrates that Tallinn has become a credible growth market for airlines,” said Eero Pärgmäe, Member of the Management Board of Tallinn Airport. “The strongest growth this year comes from Wizz Air, which has already introduced several attractive new destinations since the winter season.”
Wizz Air: Came, Saw and Conquered
Wizz Air has gathered the strongest momentum. As recently as mid-last year, it operated flights from Tallinn only to London. By the end of the year, routes to Kraków, Venice, Budapest and Vilnius had been added. In the summer season, four further destinations will be introduced: Gdańsk, Warsaw, Rome and Tirana.
airBaltic Maintains Leading Position with 29 Routes
airBaltic, the airline with the largest market share at Tallinn Airport, will open new routes to Athens, Hamburg and Vienna this summer and will operate a total of 29 routes, offering connections for both business and leisure travellers.
Eurowings will add Düsseldorf to its existing Prague route, while Finnair will launch a seasonal connection between Kuressaare and Helsinki.
Middle East Situation Has Not Affected Flights from Tallinn
“At present, the situation in the Middle East and the aviation fuel market has not affected air traffic from Tallinn. Competition in the European aviation market is intense, meaning airlines cannot significantly or rapidly increase prices. Many airlines also hedge fuel purchases at fixed prices, helping to keep ticket prices more stable during market fluctuations. There are currently no issues with aviation fuel availability in Europe, so passengers can confidently make travel plans and purchase tickets. The range of summer destinations offers plenty of opportunities for city breaks, beach holidays and active holidays in nature,” said Pärgmäe.
The success of new routes also depends on increasing interest among inbound tourists. “For example, we see strong potential in the Polish and German markets this year and are working closely with Enterprise Estonia’s tourism sector in this area,” added Pärgmäe.
